

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made an official visit to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, upon the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali. Erdoğan, who visited Ethiopia after 11 years, first laid a wreath at the Adwa Victory Monument. Following the official welcoming ceremony held at the National Palace, discussions were held in one-on-one and inter-delegation meetings. Subsequently, an agreement signing ceremony took place with President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Ali in attendance.

As part of this visit, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, who was part of Erdoğan's delegation, and Ethiopian Minister of Water and Energy Habtamu Itefa signed a 'Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Energy.' Accordingly, the two countries will develop joint projects in electricity, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. There will be cooperation in the production and installation of hydroelectric plant equipment and electrical turbines.
Investments related to energy infrastructure projects of public institutions and private companies, particularly in the electricity production, transmission, and distribution sectors, will be supported. Knowledge and experience transfer will be ensured between the relevant institutions.
